I got my current job as a translation editor just a week ago! I consider a very lucky find because I wouldn’t have known about it if I hadn’t joined the Tzu Chi Collegiate Association, a service organization at UCSD. I joined in freshman year and became more active each additional year. Even though it was just volunteering I felt very happy, because through volunteering at different events I met many people and eventually built up a great network that I have now. Last quarter I attended one of their intercollegiate camps in San Dimas and was given the opportunity to help translate a lecture for my peers. Afterwards, one of my alumni asked if I would be interested in a translation job and I said yes. He referred me to the direct contact person and we got in touch and I got hired a month later!
